Canadian provincial electoral districts

Canadian provincial electoral districts have boundaries that are non- with those of the federal electoral districts, except for districts in the province of Ontario, where districts outside Northern Ontario are coterminous. This means that, until the next Ontario general election (when the electoral district boundaries in Southern Ontario will be revised to become identical to those in the 2013 representation order), Ontario will be the only province whose population has greater representation at the federal level than at the provincial level (121 MPs compared to 107 MPPs).

Otherwise, provincial electoral districts tend instead to be smaller, ranging from just over half the size of each federal district (Quebec) to a seventh (PEI).

Like their federal counterparts, Canadian provincial electoral districts are commonly called ridings.
