Beverly Hills is a village in Southfield Township, Oakland County of the U.S. state of Michigan. It is a suburb of Detroit. As of the 2010 census, the population was 10,267 making it by far the most populous village in the state.
Beverly Hills was established in 1958 as Westwood, indicating it was west of Woodward Avenue. It was renamed as Beverly Hills in 1959.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 4.02 square miles (10.41 km2), of which 4.00 square miles (10.36 km2) is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 km2) is water, most of which is the main branch of the Rouge River.
As of the census of 2010, there were 10,267 people, 4,038 households, and 2,888 families residing in the village. The population density was 2,566.8 inhabitants per square mile (991.0/km2). There were 4,212 housing units at an average density of 1,053.0 per square mile (406.6/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 89.2% White, 6.6% African American, 0.2% Native American, 2.0% Asian, 0.4% from other races, and 1.6% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.7% of the population.
There were 4,038 households of which 34.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.5% were married couples living together, 8.4% had a female householder with no husband present, 2.6% had a male householder with no wife present, and 28.5% were non-families. 24.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 11% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.52 and the average family size was 3.04.
