"Be Real" is a song recorded by American singer-songwriter Phoebe Ryan. It was released on September 8, 2017, as the second single from her second extended play, James (2017). Remixes for the single were released the same month.

"Be Real" is a synth-pop and hip hop song with a length of three minutes and forty two seconds. It features indie pop production with different swelling synths and a minimal 808 drum machine. The song lyrically talks about wanting honesty in a relationship that no longer feels genuine. The song was penned by Ryan, Kyle Shearer, and Nathaniel Campany, while Valley Girl handled the production of the song.

Ryan wrote about the song, saying:

“Be Real is one of the most special songs I’ve ever written. I wrote it on a boat with two of my closest friends two summers ago, and I’ve just been waiting for the perfect moment to release it. It’s one my favorite songs to perform live, because even after all this time, it still gives me the feeeeels.

Thomas Bleach reacted positively to the song, writing that Ryan's "storytelling is so captivating and showcases a raw vulnerability whilst making you feel empowered. She takes charge of her emotions and her position in the relationship by not allowing him to string her along anymore." Ariella Kozin of We Are the Guard wrote that the song marks a "sweet spot that makes a hit song—it's vulnerable, but not without a glamorous mask."
