The Town of Bayfield is a Statutory Town in La Plata County, Colorado, United States. The town population was 2,333 at the 2010 United States Census.
The town derives its name from W. A. Bay, founder.
Bayfield is located at 37°13′50″N 107°35′58″W / 37.23056°N 107.59944°W (37.230532, -107.599539), along U.S. Highway 160.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.1 square miles (2.8 km2), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,549 people, 567 households, and 409 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,433.3 people per square mile (553.8/km²).
