Batesland (Lakota: íŋyaŋ šála; "Red Stone") is a town in Oglala Lakota County, South Dakota, United States. (Until 2015, Oglala Lakota County was known as Shannon County.) The population was 108 at the 2010 census.
A post office called Batesland has been in operation since 1923. The town was named in honor of C. A. Bates, who had surveyed the site.
