Baahubali (English: The One with Strong Arms) is an Indian media franchise consisting of two bilingual epic fantasy film directed by S. S. Rajamouli, made in Telugu and Tamil languages, an animated series in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, a graphic novel and a trilogy novel series in English. The films in the franchise were jointly produced on a ₹430 crore (US$67 million) budget. The first part, subtitled The Beginning was released on 10 July 2015. The second part, subtitled The Conclusion, released on 28 April 2017. The novel series, subtitled Before the Beginning, had its first novel The Rise of Sivagami releasing on 7 March 2017. The animated series Baahubali: The Lost Legends started on April 19, 2017 on Amazon Prime Video with episode "Legend Begins" and it will soon be shifted to Colors TV.
Efforts were taken to keep anachronistic sounds and visuals from appearing in the films. The shooting of the first film started at Rock Gardens in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh from 6 July 2013. During the filming in 2014, Telugu Film Federation Employees were on strike. Manu Jagadh designed art for the first film. The films were filmed in different locations including Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, Kerala and Bulgaria.
