Amin Maher (Persian: امین ماهر‎‎ , born in 1992 in Tehran, Iran) is an Iranian artist, poet and filmmaker. He is the son of filmmaker Mania Akbari.

Amin Maher started his artistic activity as the main actor in Abbas Kiarostami’s Ten.Ten was nominated for the Palme d'Or at Cannes Film festival in 2002 and ranks at number 447 on Empire magazine's 2008 list of the 500 greatest movies of all time. The film ranked No.47 in Empire magazine's "The 100 Best Films Of World Cinema" in 2010. The French film magazine Cahiers du cinéma ranked "Ten" in first place in its list of top 10 films of 2002 and also ranked "Ten" in tenth place in its list of best films of the decade 2000-2009. Four years after that, Maher performed the main role in Mania Akbari’s 10+4, a continuation of the movie “Ten”. "10+4" participated in many film festivals, such as the San Sebastián International Film Festival and the Cannes International Film Festival in the ACID section. Also The film has been screened in many international museums such as the Centre Georges Pompidou and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Afterwards, Maher followed his film activities as an assistant director. He collaborated as an actor and assistant director with his mother, Mania Akbari, for making 6 video arts ("Sin", "Self", "Fear", "Devastation", "Escape", and "Repression") which have screened in Locarno international film festival. Maher’s recent involvement as a first assistant director was for the film "From Tehran to London" in 2012, which also participated in many festivals such as Edinburgh International Film Festival in UK and International Film Festival Rotterdam in Netherlands. Maher studied film production and has made several behind the scenes films. "Sweet Gin and Cold Wine" is a fictional short film by Amin Maher that was nominated for best short film in many film festivals such as 21th Oldenburg International Film Festival in Germany and won an award of recognition at the Open International Film Festival (IOFF) in 2016. Maher's second short film, "Orange", was nominated for best short film in many film festivals such as Eko international film festival. Maher not only has artistic activity in cinema but also in literature. He was very interested in cinema and literature since he was a child and he studied both mediums. Amin Maher is also a poet and his first poetry book titled "Start Counting From Eleven" has published in 2013, in London. Maher created his first feature film titled, "One Window Will Suffice" in 2016 which was selected at 25th Chichester international film festival in UK and it was screened in London cinemas.
