Aliabad (Telugu: అలిఅబాద్) is one of the old suburbs in Hyderabad, India. It is part of the old city of Hyderabad. Aliabad is situated about 2.5 km from the historic Charminar towards Falaknuma palace. Aliabad Darwaza (door) is one of the eight entrances to the erstwhile Hyderabad.
Aliabad is home for many public figures like Baddam Bal Reddy (BJP), Mulley Baliah (Congress, ex-chairman HUDA), Kankar Laxma Reddy (Entrepreneur and Congress Leader), Rebba Anjiah (Jansangh member), Borra Madhav Reddy (public prosecutor), V Suryaprakash Reddy alias Pedda Reddanna (educationist) and Aekka Yadagiri Rao (renowned sculptor).
Most Aliabad children attended the only English medium missionary school St. Mark's Boys Town High School. The school is located in a 40 acres (160,000 m2) sprawling and scenic campus and provided education to scores to students living in Aliabad. Aliabad has produced many successful students, who by their hard work achieved higher goals in life as engineers, doctors and successful businessmen. Dr. S.S Jaya Kumar, Kankar Ravinder Reddy (Deccan Granites), Devender Reddy (Vasudeva Realtors), Venkat Aekka (NRI), Jagjivan Reddy (BJP), Uday Kumar Survi (NRI), Devi Reddy Srikanth (NRI), G. Vinod Reddy (Congress) are some of the examples. Adding to this in Aliabad there used to live Guda Saketa Rama Rao a doctor who used to practice three fields of medicine UNANI, AYURVEDHA AND ALLOPATHIC MEDICINE. He also worked as Professor in Gandhi Medical College, Deccan Medical College. He was famous for free treatment to poor people. People from different parts of Old City used to visit and get treated. There is a big community of Brahmins in the center of Aliabad near market.
Quite a few of the Aliabad folks of the 1980s migrated to new city because of communal riots.
Aliabad is connected by buses run by TSRTC, since a bus depot is close by, it is well connected. Buses that run are 65 and 9.
The closest MMTS train station is at Uppuguda which is a kilometer away.
