Ajay Thakur (born 1 May 1986) is a professional Indian international kabaddi player. He was the star player of the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup final. India won the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup due to his stunning performance combined with a great team effort. He was also a key player in the Indian kabaddi team that won the Gold medal at the Incheon Asian Games in 2014. Thakur has over 14 years of professional experience in Kabaddi.
During the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup he was the number 1 raider of the tournament with the most raid points. Ajay won the title of highest overall points scorer with 68 points. His best performance came in the final vs Iran with a game winning effort, scoring 12 raid points.
Ajay Thakur was born in Dabhota, a village in the municipality of Nalagarh, Himachal Pradesh.

2016 World Cup He played for Bengaluru Bulls in the Pro Kabaddi League for the initial 2 seasons. However, he has signed with Puneri Paltan for the upcoming season starting 30 January 2016. In the 2014 and 2015 edition, Thakur finished 3rd on the raider leaderboard with 207 raid points. 2016 kabaddi world cup he was the no.1 raider with most raid points and Ajay was overall highest points scorer with 68 points. He now plays for Tamil Nadu in Pro Kabaddi 2017.
