Adil Najam (عادل نجم | ) is a Pakistani academic and intellectual who serves as the dean of the Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, and previously served as vice-chancellor of the LUMS.
Born in Rawalpindi, Najam studied civil engineering at UET Lahore and received his PhD from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in environmental policy. After graduating from MIT, Najam joined Boston University in 1997 as an assistant professor, and moved to the Fletcher School in 2002 where he worked until 2007 as an associate professor. He re-joined Boston University in 2007 as a tenured professor and taught until 2011.
In 2011, Najam returned to Pakistan to head the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) as its third vice-chancellor while also serving as a senior fellow of the International Institute for Sustainable Development. During his tenure at LUMS, he oversaw the launch a financial aid program and expansion of the university, however faced criticism over controversial termination of Pervez Hoodbhoy. Najam left LUMS in June 2013, and returned to Boston University. A year later he became the inaugural dean of Pardee School and continues till date.
