Negeri Sembilan FA have finished the previous season in 4th place in the Malaysia Premier League. Negeri Sembilan FA were knocked out of the 2016 Malaysia FA Cup in the 3rd-round by Johor Darul Ta'zim F.C., were knocked out of 2016 Malaysia Cup in quarter-final by Kedah FA.
