Ronnie O'Sullivan became youngest winner of a ranking event at the age of 17 years 358 days, by defeating Stephen Hendry 10–6 in this is a record that still stands.
This was the first of O'Sullivan's record equalling 6 wins in the tournament. A record he shares with Steve Davis.
