101 Names of God

In Zoroastrianism, 101 names of God (Pazand Sad-o-yak nam-i-khoda) is a list of names of God (Ahura Mazda). The list is preserved in Persian, Pazand and Gujarati.

The 101 names are often taken during Baj (ceremonial prayer) during the Yasna ritual while sprinkling the ring made of eight metals with the hair of the pure Varasya (a cow with only white hair), into the water vessel.

Two translations for each name are provided below, one by Meher Baba the other from an online source (persiandna.com).

101 Names of God is also a prayer composed by Meher Baba from his translation of the 101 Names of Ahura Mazda into English. Of the prayer Meher Baba said, "If you repeat this prayer with Love, no other prayer remains to be said. Anyone can repeat these names with Love, irrespective of the religion he belongs to." A book on Meher Baba's 101 Names of God was written by Gujarati scholar Sohrabji M. Desai, editor of the Gujarati Biography of Upasni Maharaj.
