SunChips

Sun Chips (officially styled as SunChips) is a brand of fried, rippled, multigrain chips launched in 1991 and produced by Frito-Lay.

Permanent flavors include original, Harvest Cheddar, French Onion, Sweet and Spicy BBQ,and Garden Salsa. In 2016, two Veggie Harvest flavors were added, Farmhouse Ranch and Tomato, Basil and Cheese that are claimed to included vegetables in these chips. Limited edition flavors have included Cinnamon Crunch early in 2007 (the flavor is still produced as a seasonal item in the US, reappearing near the end of the year for the holidays), as well as Honey Graham and Apple 'n Caramel in 2009.

In the past, some Frito-Lay brand seasoned products, including some flavors of Sun Chips, contained pork enzymes in addition to herbs, cheese, and other seasonings. Frito-Lay's web site states that they use enzymes from pigs (porcine enzymes) in some of their seasoned snack products to develop "unique flavors". The presence of pig-derived ingredients made them haram (forbidden) for Muslims, not kosher for Jews, and not vegetarian. As of April 5, 2011, Frito-Lay's online list "U.S. Products Made Without Pig (Porcine) Enzymes" catalogs nine flavors of Sun Chips "made and distributed in the U.S." that do not contain porcine enzymes.

In April 2008, Frito Lay introduced compostable packaging for the SunChips product line. The bag is made of plant-based material. It will break down within 14 weeks in a hot, active compost pile.

In October 2010, Frito-Lay stated that the compostable package would be pulled back in the United States. The bag created excessive noise, which prompted Facebook groups and complaints. In response to various complaints, Frito Lay announced that they would only use the compostable bag for original flavor chips from the SunChips US line moving forward. The other US flavors will use traditional SunChips packaging.

On February 24, 2011, Frito Lay announced that they were releasing a new, quieter biodegradable bag starting with the Original Sun Chip brand. Closely resembling traditional bags, the compostable packaging uses adhesives sandwiched between the outer and inner layers of the bag to substantially reduce the excessive noise. Current bags are not labeled as compostable, as of 2015.

Tostitos is a brand of tortilla chips and (more recently) dips produced by Frito-Lay.

In January 1978, Frito-Lay's product development group led by Jack Liczkowski had completed development of Tostitos. The chips were round, made of white corn and had a more authentic "Mexican" flavor. Part of achieving this authenticity occurred after research discovered that Mexicans, after cooking corn with lime, did not rinse the corn completely; therefore, the resulting stone ground corn masa has higher content of lime and lower pH. When frying the formed chips, calcium hydroxide reacts with oil and gives this specific taste. After successful test marketing in 1979, Tostitos Traditional Flavor and Tostitos Nacho Cheese Flavor went into national distribution in 1980 in the United States and have reached the sales of $140 million, making it one of the most successful new product introductions in Frito-Lay history. The chips are often eaten with salsa or nacho cheese dip, which the company also produces.

Uncle Chipps is a brand of potato chips that is marketed in India.It was launched on 1992 by Amrit Agro Ltd. which was later taken over by Frito Lay(owned by PepsiCo), India in 2000.

Uncle Chipps is made of Potato, Edible Vegetable Oil, Salt(Rock Salt) Spices & other added Condiments according to their flavors.

Until 1998, the Delhi-based Uncle Chipps was the market leader in the industry, enjoying a 71% market share, thereafter saw competition bring its market share down to 30-35% by 2000. Originally owned by the Amrit Agro Ltd., it was bought over by Frito-Lay, PepsiCo's snacks division in October 2000. It was sold for $ 16.6 million. Noted film music director Shantanu Moitra started his composing career with the hit-jingle with Rohit Nagar, "Bole mere lips I love Uncle Chipps" , with Pradeep Sarkar, then the Creative Head of the agency.

Though Amrit Agro continued marketing snacks under other brands, it completely exited the snacks business in December 2002.

Uncle Chipps is the pioneer of branded nitrogen-foil packed potato chips in India. The brand markets its potato chips with the tagline "Bole mere lips, I love Uncle Chipps". Uncle Chipps until 2010, was distributed only in Northern India. In August 2010, Frito Lay announced that it was looking to market Uncle Chipps on a pan India level.

Walkers is a British snack food manufacturer mainly operating in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Walkers was founded in 1948 in Leicester, England by Henry Walker, and acquired by Lay's owner, Frito-Lay, a division of PepsiCo, in 1989. It is best known for manufacturing potato crisps, and other, non-potato-based snack foods. They hold 56 percent of the British crisps market. The Walkers site in Leicester is the largest crisp production plant in the world, producing over 11 million bags of crisps per day and using about 800 tons of potatoes.

In the 1880s, Walker moved from Mansfield to Leicester to take over an established butcher's shop in the high street. Meat rationing after World War II saw the factory output drop dramatically, and so in 1948 the company starting looking at alternative products. Potato crisps were becoming increasingly popular with the public, leading managing director R.E. Gerrard to shift the company focus and begin hand-slicing and frying potatoes.

The Walkers logo, featuring a red ribbon around a yellow sun, is noticeably similar to Lay's. It derives from the Walkers logo used in 1990. The company is still a significant presence in Leicester. Gary Lineker, the Leicester-born former footballer, is now the face of the company, featuring in most of their advertising campaigns since 1995's "Welcome Home". The official website states that an estimated "11 million people will eat a Walkers product every day". The company employs over 4,000 people in fifteen locations.

In February 2006, Walkers changed their brand label and typeset. They also announced they were to reduce the saturated fat in their crisps by 70%. They started frying their crisps in "SunSeed" oil, as claiming the oil is higher in monounsaturated fat content than the standard sunflower oil which they had used previously, establishing their own sunflower farms in Ukraine and Spain to be able to produce sufficient quantities of the oil. Walkers updated their packaging style in June 2007, moving to a brand identity reminiscent of the logo used from 1998–2006.
