Simba Chips (commonly referred to as Simba) is a popular South African brand of potato crisps. It was first introduced in 1957 by the Greyvensteyn family. "Simba" is the Swahili word for "lion" and the product's mascot is an adult male African Lion.

Having successfully marketed Ouma Rusks in the 1940s and 1950s, by 1955 the Greyvensteyn family were looking for ways to diversify their family business. In that year, Leon Greyvensteyn travelled to a food fair in Germany in search of ideas and met a man called Herman Lay – the co-founder of Frito-Lay, the largest chip company in the world. The two men struck up a friendship, and Leon travelled on to the United States where he saw a potato chip factory in action.

Tayto (Northern Ireland) Limited is a manufacturer of crisps and corn snacks based in Tandragee, County Armagh.

It employs 300 people at its plant beside Tandragee Castle (called "Tayto castle" as part of the advertising for the snacks) and remains the largest selling brand of crisps in Northern Ireland and the third biggest crisp and snack business in the United Kingdom. It owns the Golden Wonder, Ringos, Mr.Porky and Real Crisp brands.

Tayto (Northern Ireland) was formed in 1956 by the Hutchinson family and licensed the name and recipes of Tayto Crisps in the Republic of Ireland. The two companies operate entirely separately, but have a similar range of products.

On 13 January 2006 it was announced that Tayto (NI) was to acquire the Corby and Scunthorpe sites of the former Golden Wonder business and the contract to produce Mini Pringles for Procter & Gamble. This secured some 195 jobs out of 350 that were under threat following Golden Wonder's entry into administration on 9 January 2006.

In December 2007 Tayto (NI) acquired Sirhowy Valley Foods Ltd, makers of the Real Crisps range.

On the 14 March 2008 it was announced that Tayto would acquire Red Mill Snack foods, making it the 3rd largest crisp manufacturer in the UK. Most of the Red Mill brands were transferred under the Golden Wonder umbrella but Mr. Porky's pork scratchings continue to be produced under Tayto, from the plant in Westhoughton, Bolton.

On the 21 January 2009 it was announced that Tayto has acquired Jonathan Crisp, the trading name of Natural Crisps Ltd, based in Staffordshire, England. The Tayto group, which is privately owned by the Hutchinson family, is headquartered in County Armagh, now has turnover of £150 million per annum and employs more than 1,400 people.

The Good Crisp Company is a brand of gluten free canister chips. It currently sells in the US and Australian grocery markets. The brand was introduced in 2017 by ABC Sales and Marketing Pty Ltd and is currently trademarked in over six countries

ABC Sales and Marketing have licensed and imported the Malaysian snack Mamee for the Australian market. After selling snacks in Australia for 10 years ABC expanded into the US market with their Mamee brand. After initial challenges with US customers connecting with the brand, the company decided to introduce their products under a new brand, The Good Crisp Company. They worked with US consultants and experts to research the US market, identify customers and ensure the products had the correct certifications.

In 2017, the brand was first launched into the US through 40 Whole Foods Northern California stores. As of January 2018 they are sold in over 2000 supermarkets in the US.

Also, in 2017, The Good Crisp Company 45g were placed on all Virgin & Tiger airline flights in Australia.

Thins (Snackfood) is one of the largest brands of savoury snack potato chips (crisps) released in Australia and is owned by Snack Brands Australia. They are a thinly sliced variety of potato chip (crisp) and come in a variety of flavours including Chicken, Original, Salt & Vinegar, "BBQ Ribs", "Cheese & Onion", Sour Cream & Chives" and Light & Tangy. They compete chiefly with Smith's Selections Thinly Cut; another thinly sliced potato chip (crisp), along with various crinkle cut brands.

The Thins brand has undergone several ownership changes throughout its history. Originally owned by Arnott's the brand was sold to The Smith's Snackfood Company shortly after Arnott's was bought by the Campbell Soup Company in hostile takeover bid in 1997. Smith's in turn was purchased by Pepsico and began to relabel the Thins brand jointly with Pepsi's own brand of thin potato chips, Lay's. They were sold under the moniker Thins: now known internationally as Lays. Smith's later sold Thins to Snack Foods Limited, while continuing to produce their own line of potato chips under the 'Lays' brand name. For a while there were two competing lines of potato chips released in Australia which were effectively the same product, even sharing similar packaging since the Thins packet was designed off the Lays ones released in North America. In 2002 Snack Foods Limited was purchased by Arnott's, and the Thins brand returned to the company which created it. Smith's produced a line of potato chips under the Lay's brand for a brief period of time until it was eventually rebranded as Smith's Crisps, while the traditional Smith's line was renamed Smith's Crinkles. Thins is still sold in Australia as a direct competitor to Smith's Crisps.

Tyrrells is a manufacturer of potato crisps owned by Amplify Snacks.

Tyrrells was founded in Leominster, Herefordshire, in 2002 by farmer and entrepreneur William Chase. Within several years of its creation Tyrrells expanded its market into Europe and later into the U.S. Tyrrells has received numerous awards for the taste and quality of its crisps, both in England, as well as internationally.

In April 2008, Chase sold a majority stake for £40 million to Langholm Capital. Chase had a long running dispute with Tesco over stocking his potatoes, and so refused to sell them any supplies of Tyrrells. He said that his previous farming business had collapsed when "the large supermarkets, led by Tesco, began sourcing produce from overseas to push down costs." After Langholm took over, they dropped the existing distribution chain, and focused on large supermarkets including Tesco; they then dropped Chase as a supplier of potatoes when they "found they could get them cheaper elsewhere". Chase used the money from the sale of his stake in Tyrrells to start production of Chase Vodka, again using his own farmed potatoes.

In July 2013, the firm was sold for £100 million to Investcorp, a Bahrain-based luxury brands investor.

In 2015, Tyrrells acquired Yarra Valley Snack Foods, based in Melbourne, Australia, where it now manufactures products for the Australian market.

In August 2016 US-based Amplify Snacks, maker of Skinny Pop popcorn, bought Tyrrells from Investcorp for £300 million. David Milner, Tyrrells' chief executive, said: "As a small, UK farm-based business it is a tremendous achievement to be now part of a US publicly traded company with the international reach to make Tyrrells a global brand." The company will continue to be based in Herefordshire.

Tyrrells produces a number of different types of crisps, popcorn and tortilla. As of February 2017^[update] they produce 25 flavours of potato and vegetable crisps.

In 2010, Perry Haydn Taylor's agency, big fish, began work on branding and marketing Tyrells, focusing on the "quintessentially English" identity of the product.

Though Amrit Agro continued marketing snacks under other brands, it completely exited the snacks business in December 2002.

Uncle Chipps is the pioneer of branded nitrogen-foil packed potato chips in India. The brand markets its potato chips with the tagline "Bole mere lips, I love Uncle Chipps". Uncle Chipps until 2010, was distributed only in Northern India. In August 2010, Frito Lay announced that it was looking to market Uncle Chipps on a pan India level.

Utz Quality Foods, Inc. /ˈʌts/, based in Hanover, Pennsylvania, is the largest independent privately held snack brand in the United States. The company was founded in 1921 and distributes a variety of potato chips and other snack foods throughout the United States.

Utz Quality Foods began in 1921 as "Hanover Home Brand Potato Chips" when William and Salie Utz began making potato chips out of their home in Hanover, Pennsylvania, with an initial investment of $300. The hand-operated equipment used at the time produced approximately 50 pounds of potato chips per hour. After Salie cooked the chips, Bill delivered them to local grocery stores and farmers’ markets in the Hanover and Baltimore, Maryland, areas.

Success soon allowed Bill and Salie to move operations to a small concrete building in the family’s backyard. In 1938, production was boosted with the purchase of an automatic fryer capable of producing 300 pounds of chips per hour.

In 1938, Francis Xavier "F.X." Rice joined the Utz Company after marrying Arlene Utz, William and Salie Utz’s daughter. In 1949, post-war success allowed the company to build a new production facility on 10 acres (40,000 m²) in Hanover. F.X. Rice became president of the company in 1968, after the death of Salie Utz in 1965 and Bill Utz three years later.

The 1970s began with the 50th Anniversary celebration of the company and saw the purchase of two more Hanover-based production facilities. F.X. Rice retired in 1978. The Rices’ son, Michael W. Rice, succeeded F.X. as company president, while Arlene Utz Rice remained as the company’s board chairperson. Utz’s largest production facility and home of its current administrative headquarters was completed in 1983.

In the late 1980s, sales of Utz pretzels began growing by 20 percent annually and, by 1991, pretzel sales comprised almost 10 percent of total revenue. In the summer of 1992, Utz added a third pretzel oven and began baking pretzels around the clock. By the middle of the decade, annual sales of Utz products topped $100 million and its employee base had reached 1,000.
