Hideaway Pizza

Hideaway Pizza is a restaurant originally opened in 1957 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Its original location is in Stillwater at the corner of 3rd St and Knoblock, which is close to the Oklahoma State University campus.

In 1993 the restaurant started opening locations outside of Stillwater. Currently, there are four locations in the Oklahoma City area, one in Edmond, five locations in the Tulsa area, one in Broken Arrow, one in Yukon, one in Moore, and one in Norman. In October 2016, Hideaway Pizza opened a location in North Little Rock, Arkansas.

Hideaway became famous for their original thin crust recipe, which is always a classic, but their original light and fluffy hand-tossed recipe is also a fan and staff favorite. There is usually a range of approximately 22 Specialty Pizzas on the menu ranging from fan favorites such as the ATW (Around the World) which is appropriately named for its supreme topping mix and the Big Country or The Bozworth, both of which are loaded with fresh meats and fresh cheeses, to the employee submitted new favorites like Da Bomb which has unique toppings like thick balsamic glaze, salami, pineapple, and in-store fresh cut basil to top it all off.

During the 1960s and 1970s and through the 1980s, Hideaway was famous for having delivered pizzas to consumers in Stillwater using a fleet of brightly colored Volkswagen Beetles. In the late 1990s, when Volkswagen re-released the Beetle, Hideaway received the first one sold in Oklahoma.

Modern Apizza

imageModern Apizza

Modern Apizza is an American pizza restaurant in New Haven, Connecticut.

Originally called State Street Apizza, Modern Apizza was founded in 1934 and has been in the same spot ever since. Unlike Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana and Sally's Apizza, the other well-known New Haven pizzerias, Modern Apizza is not located on New Haven's famous Wooster Street but rather on nearby State Street in the East Rock neighborhood. In 2011, the restaurant was visited by Adam Richman on the first episode of the Travel Channel show Man v. Food Nation.

Like the Wooster Street pizzerias, Modern serves New Haven-style thin-crust apizza (closely related to Neapolitan-style Italian pizza). Unlike the Wooster Street pizzerias which is baked in a coal-fired brick oven, Modern uses an oil-fueled brick oven. The restaurant also sells Foxon Park soft drinks, made in East Haven, Connecticut, which many locals argue are the perfect beverages to accompany New Haven-style pizza. Modern's specialties include the Clams Casino (Clams, Bacon & Peppers) the Italian Bomb (Sausage, Bacon, Pepperoni, Mushroom, Onion, Pepper & Garlic) and a classic Italian variation: Pizza Margherita, made with fresh mozzarella from Liuzzi Cheese in North Haven, Connecticut. Modern Apizza also uses fresh littleneck clams for their white clam pies; the only difference between Modern and Pepe's is that Modern uses pre-shucked clams while Pepe's shuck their clams on location. Yet another coastal favorite is a white tuna pie.

Old Town Pizza

imageOld Town Pizza

Old Town Pizza is a pizzeria established in 1974 and located in the historic Merchant Hotel building in the Old Town Chinatown neighborhood of central Portland, Oregon in the United States. The company has a satellite location located at Vanport Square in Northeast Portland that includes a brewery branded as Old Town Brewing Co. Two days before its March 2012 opening, a fire forced the restaurant to undergo reconstruction for six weeks.

Old Town Pizza was established in 1974 in the Merchant Hotel building in the Old Town Chinatown neighborhood of northwest Portland, Oregon. The restaurant's menu includes pizzas, paninis, pastas and salads.

Old Town Pizza's satellite restaurant is located at 5201 Northeast Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard at Vanport Square in Northeast Portland. Historically, the location was a hub for the automotive industry. The restaurant serves the same menu as the original location and features a similar "rustic-feeling atmosphere", plus a full bar.

The Northeast Portland restaurant was set to launch its seven-barrel brewery, branded as Old Town Brewing Co., in mid-March 2012. However, two days before the opening, a fire believed to have been started by prolonged contact between a light bulb and lampshade resulted in more than $50,000 in damage. The restaurant was closed for reconstruction for more than six weeks, during which repairs costing over $300,000 were completed. Following an April 27 reopening, the restaurant began serving eight beers, including an American wheat, an India Pale Ale, an Irish red, a pale ale, a porter, S.T.E.A.M., a stout and a winter ale. S.T.E.A.M. was developed in collaboration with Rock Bottom Brewery during Old Town's six-week closure and was served by both companies.

Old Town Pizza has been featured on Rachael Ray's Tasty Travels, a series hosted by celebrity chef and television personality Rachael Ray, The Tonight Show and the Travel Channel.Portland Monthly recommended the original restaurant as a good place to start or end an evening. The magazine published about the restaurant: "There's something so McCabe & Mrs. Miller about eating in a warm, wooden room. And indeed, much of the allure of Old Town Pizza is the architecture." The Old Town Chinatown Community Association included the Northwest Portland restaurant in a self-guided tour of the neighborhood.

Pizza Brain

imagePizza Brain Museum of Pizza Culture

Pizza Brain is an American pizza culture museum and pizzeria, and home to the world's largest collection of pizza memorabilia and collectibles, headquartered in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia, United States, with the flagship restaurant on Frankford Avenue.

In May 2010, Kensington-based artist Brian Dwyer, along with Christopher Powell, organized "Give Pizza Chance"—Philadelphia's first pizza-based art show—in which pizza served as muse for more than 25 artists who displayed their work at a local gallery. Inspired by the show's success, Dwyer became fascinated with the communal and seemingly boundless reach of pizza, seeking out more pizza-related memorabilia, with the intention of turning the pizza art exhibit into a yearly occurrence.

In December 2010, Dwyer connected with Michael Carter, Joseph Hunter and Ryan Anderson via Circle of Hope, a Brethren in Christ church located in the Fishtown and East Kensington sections of Philadelphia. Carter, a business executive, left academic publishing to make meaningful investments in the renewal of his hometown. Hunter, a pizzaioli recently transplanted from South Carolina to Philadelphia, sought a venue where pizza could bring communities together., Anderson, a master carpenter worked on craft projects at the nexus of art and utility.

In January 2011, the four formed a business to turn Dwyer's pizza art show into a business model- a pizzeria & museum where members of the community could connect and celebrate a common love of pizza. Together they curated the world's largest collection of pizza related items, earning a Guinness World Record in summer 2011.

On September 7, 2012, Pizza Brain opened its doors to the public. (The company's name comes from the frequent misspelling of Dwyer's first name, in which the 'a' and the 'i' are transposed to spell 'Brain.').

Guinness officially adjudicated Pizza Brain's collection before the company formed as an LLC. On July 31, 2011 Guinness World Records under individual category and Dwyer's name, Guinness certified the collection as "the world's largest collection of pizza-related items".

Pizza Brain's Guinness-certified collection is the core of its Museum of Pizza Culture, which is increasingly recognized as a food museum., Today, the collection ranges from the familiar (toys, puzzles, magazine ads, comic books, etc.) to the absurd - including a stainless-steel pizza cutter shaped like the USS Enterprise, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pizza Drop plinko arcade game circa 1990, an original Spanish poster print of the film Do the Right Thing and more than 150 vinyl 45s and LPs spanning 6 decades honoring pizza in song and lyric.
