Eagle Boys

Eagle Boys is an Australian fast food chain specialising in Italian-American cuisine, in particular pizza. The chain was acquired by Pizza Hut in November 2016 and the brand is expected to be wound-down by mid-2017.

Eagle Boys was founded in Albury, New South Wales by businessman Tom Potter in 1987. Since 1992, Eagle Boys national headquarters have been located in Annerley, Queensland. In 2007 NBC Capital, a Queensland-based venture capital group, bought Eagle Boys from Potter. At the chain's peak, in 2013, more than 340 Eagle Boys stores were operating across Australia. Outlet numbers fell drastically between the end of 2013 and the end of 2014 to around 170. In July 2016, fewer than 130 stores remained open and administrators were brought in to the head office to identify restructuring options ahead of a potential sale of the business, although the move did not extend to franchisee-operated outlets. In November 2016, Pizza Hut announced to media that it had merged with Eagle Boys. As at that date, 114 Eagle Boys stores operated throughout Australia; making it the fourth largest pizza chain in the country, with less than 10% share of the country's pizza market.

More than 340 Eagle Boys stores were operating across Australia at the pizza chain's peak, in 2013. Outlet numbers fell drastically between the end of 2013 and the end of 2014 to around 170. At July 2014, Eagle Boys was the third largest pizza chain in Australia, with 12% share of Australia's pizza market. By the end of 2014, Eagle Boys' visitation rate dropped below that of Crust Pizza, and fewer than 130 stores remained open.

As at April 2016, Eagle Boys stores could be found in New South Wales, Northern Territory, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia. The stores have a strong regional emphasis with most outlets located in non-metropolitan areas, including Bathurst, Bendigo and Mareeba.

Pizza Haven (Australia)

Pizza Haven is a defunct Australian and New Zealand pizza restaurant chain and franchise operation. Founded in 1984, four brothers Evan, Louis, Bill and Gabriel Christou started Pizza Haven with the aid of a A$24,000 mortgage on their parents' home. The first Pizza Haven outlet was at Glenelg in Adelaide. Employing twelve people, the Christou brothers were active in the running of the business. Pizza Haven evolved into a small franchised business model.

In May 2006, New Zealand Pizza Haven stores were bought by Domino's Pizza and a majority were converted to Domino's while some stores were able to stay branded under Pizza Haven. However, eventually all Pizza Haven stores became Domino's.

In July 2008 it was announced that Pizza Haven Australia had been acquired by Eagle Boys pizza chain.

Pizza Showtime

Pizza Showtime was a family restaurant and entertainment center operating in Perth, Western Australia from 1980 to around 1984. Similar to the American Chuck E. Cheese chain it was a sit down pizza restaurant complemented by arcade games, and animatronic characters.

The restaurant was located in the now demolished Grand Theatre building located at 148 Murray Street (a site now occupied by Grand Theatre Lane, showcasing a small cafe, and multiple storefronts). It featured 'space invaders' style game consoles built into the customer tables (operated with tokens) and an animatronic stage show featuring a dog named 'Bert Newhound', a piano playing kangaroo known as 'Melton Pom' (next to joey), singing koalas with 'Lottie' being the lead, a wise cracking horse by the name of 'Ned Kelly' a dingo named 'Ringo Dingo', and a fiddle playing American bear who went unnamed. The animatronic robots cost "in excess of $100,000" and are claimed to have had "more movements than any Disney character". Australian actor Jack Thompson provided the voice for the "Ringo Dingo" character.

Pizza Showtime closed down around 1984 and the robot characters were dismantled and sent to Sydney. The restaurant was originally intended as a starter for a chain of 'Pizza Theatres' around Australia, owned and operated by Allied & Leisure Industries, along with Paul Gregory under the supervision of A&L founder Mr. Malcolm Steinberg, who is the current owner of the Timezone arcade game franchise. The building was subsequently converted to an Asian foodhall and was demolished in 1990.

The restaurant was also similar to Chuck E. Cheese's, a restaurant chain in the U.S.
