Kitagata (北方町 Kitagata-chō) is a town located in Motosu District, Gifu Prefecture, Japan.
As of 2011, the town has an estimated population of 18,389. The total area is 5.17 km2 (making it the smallest municipality of the country in area). The town is completely surrounded by the three cities of Gifu, Motosu and Mizuho.
