Yuxi–Mengzi Railway

The Yuxi–Mengzi Railway or Yumeng Railway (simplified Chinese: 玉蒙铁路; traditional Chinese: 玉蒙鐵路; pinyin: yùměng tiělù), is one of the sections of the new standard-gauge Kunming–Yuxi–Hekou Railway in Yunnan Province of Southwest China. The line runs 141 km (88 mi) from Yuxi in central Yunnan to Mengzi City in southern Yunnan.

Cities and towns along route include Yuxi, Tonghai County, Jianshui County and Mengzi.

Construction began on December 15, 2005, and was scheduled to take six years.

Track construction was completed in mid-August 2012 and the line opened to commercial service on February 23, 2013.

The Kunming–Yuxi–Hekou Railway, of which the Yuxi–Mengzi Railway is a part, forms the Eastern Route of China's rail link to Southeast Asia. Trains from Kunming, Yunnan's provincial capital, use this railway to travel on standard gauge rail to Hekou North Station, on the border with Vietnam, where a connection to the Vietnamese meter-gauge network is available.

The Central Route will connect Yuxi and Mohan on the border with Laos. The Western Route will extend from Kunming to Dali to Ruili, on the border with Myanmar.
