Willow River is a city in Pine County, Minnesota, United States, at the confluence of the Kettle and Willow Rivers. The population was 415 at the 2010 census.
Interstate 35, County Road 43, and County 61 (Cross Street) are three of the main routes in the community.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.86 square miles (4.82 km2), of which 1.71 square miles (4.43 km2) is land and 0.15 square miles (0.39 km2) is water.
As of the census of 2010, there were 415 people, 173 households, and 103 families residing in the city. The population density was 242.7 inhabitants per square mile (93.7/km2). There were 199 housing units at an average density of 116.4 per square mile (44.9/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 95.7% White, 0.2% African American, 1.4% Native American, 0.2% from other races, and 2.4% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.2% of the population.
There were 173 households of which 31.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 41.0% were married couples living together, 13.3% had a female householder with no husband present, 5.2% had a male householder with no wife present, and 40.5% were non-families. 35.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.40 and the average family size was 3.03.
