Williamsburg County is a county located in the U.S. state of South Carolina. As of the 2010 census its population was 34,423. The county seat is Kingstree. After a previous incarnation of Williamsburg County, the current county was created in 1804.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 937 square miles (2,430 km2), of which 934 square miles (2,420 km2) is land and 2.9 square miles (7.5 km2) (0.3%) is water.

As of the census of 2000, there were 37,217 people, 13,714 households, and 10,052 families residing in the county. The population density was 40 people per square mile (15/km²). There were 15,552 housing units at an average density of 17 per square mile (6/km²). The racial makeup of the county was 66.26% Black or African American, 32.74% White, 0.16% Native American, 0.20% Asian, 0.16% from other races, and 0.48% from two or more races. 0.73% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 13,714 households out of which 34.50% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.30% were married couples living together, 22.40% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.70% were non-families. 24.90% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.40% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.69 and the average family size was 3.22.
