The Institute offers a Master of Design (M.Des.), Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) degrees, and as well as various vocational education and training (VET) courses, Including Advanced Diplomas, Diplomas, Certificates and various Whitehouse Workshops. The M.Des. degree was first offered in 2014. The Institute's Melbourne campus has hosted several seasons of Project Runway Australia. and has also been the host to Asia's Next Top Model in 2015.

Whitehouse has many notable alumni globally, one in particular being Tamara Ralph. Tamara studied at Whitehouse Institute of Design in Sydney before moving to London and establishing the house of Ralph & Russo with partner Michael Russo. In 2010, Ralph was asked by Beyoncé to design the gown for her White House performance and later in 2013 to design the outfits for her The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour. In 2012, the Victoria and Albert Museum showcased Ralph's designs in the Ballgowns: British Glamour Since 1950 exhibition in addition to other collaborations with the Walt Disney Company and Swarovski. Throughout 2012 and 2013, Angelina Jolie commissioned Ralph & Russo to design pieces for numerous film premieres and humanitarian events around the world. Ralph & Russo are also apart of the exclusive Chamber Syndicale de la Haute Couture.

The school was also attended by Frances Abbott, daughter of the former Prime Minister of Australia, Liberal Party politician Tony Abbott (who was opposition leader at the time of her attendance). She studied through the assistance of an occasional "chairman’s scholarship" (worth approximately $60,000) that was awarded in 2011 by the founder and owner of the Whitehouse Institute, Leanne Whitehouse.
