According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 40.29 square miles (104.35 km2), of which 40.25 square miles (104.25 km2) is land and 0.04 square miles (0.10 km2) is water.
As of the census of 2010, there were 549 people, 216 households, and 159 families residing in the town. The population density was 13.6 inhabitants per square mile (5.3/km2). There were 240 housing units at an average density of 6.0 per square mile (2.3/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 98.9% White, 0.4% African American, and 0.7% Native American.
There were 216 households of which 24.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.3% were married couples living together, 7.9% had a female householder with no husband present, 6.5% had a male householder with no wife present, and 26.4% were non-families. 21.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.40 and the average family size was 2.72.
