West Gloucester station is an MBTA Commuter Rail station in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Located on Essex Avenue, it serves the Newburyport/Rockport Line. The station meets the ADA Guidelines for Handicap Accessibility. It also contains a 24-car lot for parking. (On weekdays, a fee of 4.00 USD is charged.) The station has a long outbound platform, and a relatively short inbound platform. This is to allow fast unloading from many cars during the evening rush hour, and loading from 1 or 2 doors during the morning rush hour. There is a bench and shelter on the inbound side, where there is neither on the outbound side. The layout and design shows that this station was built with the intent that the vast majority of people using this station commute to Boston or other points south. The station is handicap accessible, with car-length high-level platforms at the north end of each platform.
