"Weirdmageddon 3: Take Back The Falls" is the series finale of the American animated television series Gravity Falls, created by Alex Hirsch. The episode was written by Shion Takeuchi, Mark Rizzo, Josh Weinstein, Jeff Rowe, and Hirsch, and directed by Stephen Sandoval. The series follows twelve-year-old twins Dipper (voiced by Jason Ritter) and Mabel Pines (voiced by Kristen Schaal), who stay for the summer with their grand uncle Grunkle Stan (voiced by Hirsch) in a tourist trap called the Mystery Shack, set within the fictional town of Gravity Falls, Oregon. In this episode, Ford (voiced by J.K. Simmons) discovers the extent of Bill Cipher's plans, while the Mystery Shack crew forms a plan to fight back and reclaim the town. A final confrontation with Bill leads to the Pines family's ultimate fate and greatest sacrifice.
The 44-minute episode's reruns were split into two parts, and the second part was named "Weirdmageddon 4: Somewhere in the Woods".
"Weirdmageddon 3: Take Back The Falls" was first broadcast on February 15, 2016 on Disney XD, and was watched by 2.47 million households in the United States. It became the most watched telecast in the history of Disney XD, beating "A Tale of Two Stans", another episode of Gravity Falls.
Twins Dipper and Mabel Pines are nearing the end of the summer stay with their great-uncle "Grunkle" Stan at the Mystery Shack in Gravity Falls, Oregon, which corresponds with their thirteenth birthday in a week. During their stay, they have befriended many of the town's residents and come to know the nature of several of the strange, paranormal events that have occurred within the town. They recently have been able to help Stan rescue his twin brother Ford Pines from a dimension he had been trapped in for several years after falling into a portal of his own design.
One of those paranormal events involves the chaotic dimensional being Bill Cipher; Cipher has long sought escape into the human dimension and has tried to do so in the past by manipulating humans in their dreams. When Ford had first moved to Gravity Falls, drawn there to study its strange phenomena, he had accepted Bill's help in exchange for the idea of the dimensional portal machine, giving Bill a foothold to potentially enter this dimension. Dipper and Mabel have faced and defeated Bill earlier in the summer.
