It forms a city municipal corporation council electoral constituency and is a part of Beleghata (Vidhan Sabha constituency).
The boundaries of the ward are: Baliaghata Road and Beliaghata Canal are in the north. The Circular and the New Canal.are to the east. Guriapara Road, Debendra Chandra Dey Road and Sewage outlet up to it meets with the New Canal are to the south. The Beliaghata Road and Palmer Bazar Road are to the west.
