Wamanrao Muranjan Madhyamik Vidyalaya & Junior College is a co-educational school in Mulund, Maharashtra, India. It was founded in 1955 as a Marathi language medium school in 1955. It is one of the largest schools in Mulund (East). Wamanrao was the most popular, demanding and considered the best school among the Marathi speaking population of Mulund. Since its inception every year the school had produced a number of merit rank holder at the 10th standard (Secondary School Certificate) Board examination. In spite of being a Marathi Medium school, a considerable number of students ofWamanrao have ben studying and working abroad, mainly in the USA and UK.
It's run by Raosaheb Balaram Nyandev Thakur Vidyamandir Institute. Since 2004 the school began its operations in a new larger building called Shardanilayam Sankul was built near Gavanpada Fire Brigade. It has improved laboratories and a gym. It is also known as WMMV by its graduates.
The Marathi medium schools namely, Bal Vikas Mandir (pre-primary school), Lokmanya Prathamik Vidyalaya (the primary school from 1st to 4th) and Wamanrao Muranjan Madhyamik Vidyalaya (the secondary school from 5th to 10th) were earlier located near Mulund railway station. Originally a Marathi medium school, the institute started an English medium school in 2004, called Vidya Prabhodhini English School due to fulfil increasing demand of English Medium Schools. School also has a play group called Happy Day Play Group for little kids. Wamanrao Muranjan Junior College of Science and Commerce (11th to 12th Standard) started its first academic session in 2008. The college conducts 3 exams year. All of its schools have constantly been producing good results in both academics and extracurricular activities. The diversity of its student body has been a unique factor. Every year the institutes celebrate various religious and cultural festivals.
Along with theoretical knowledge, the school focuses on giving practical expertise on all subjects to its students. It has 5 laboratories of each department each of area 1,326 square feet (123.2 m2) used by both school and college students. The laboratories are equipped with excellent apparatus and other accessories required for conducting experiments in an ideal manner.For students in technical knowledge, the college has started electronics vocational branch and has labs enriched by the recent additions of modern equipment in Electronics etc. as required by the new syllabus. The school has a library with a diverse collection of books, periodicals and audio-visual CDs. The overall result of the first batch of XIIth std. Science was 86.20% and for commerce, it was 74.57% with the percentage increasing.
