Wagoma


Goma people (Swahili: Wagoma), (Kihoma: Bahoma), (Ebembe: Bakyobha) and also like to call themselves Al ghamawiyyun in Arabic, are the Bantu people based in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo on Northwestern shore of Lake Tanganyika and Kigoma Urban district on the opposite shore of the same Lake in Tanzania which they are the first inhabitants before other groups from eastern D.R.C with whom they formed a tribal Confederacy in Ujiji known as Wamanyema, followed the Wagoma, were the Wabwari from Ubwari peninsula, Wanyakaramba (Wakwalumona) from Cape Karamba who merged within Wabwari and settled north of Wagoma before resettled in Ujiji and its environs. The Wagoma managed to cross the Lake early due to their invention of dug-out canoes mitumbwi ya mti mmoja curved from Mivule trees of Ugoma mountains from western shore of the Lake
