WSTL (1220 AM, "Shine Radio 1220AM") is a radio station licensed to serve Providence, Rhode Island. The station is owned by New England Christian Media, a subsidiary of Faith Christian Center, a large charismatic church in nearby Seekonk, Massachusetts. It airs a Christian radio format.
The station has been assigned these call letters by the Federal Communications Commission since July 7, 2006.
The station was started as a 250-watt daytimer, WRIB with studios at the old Narragansett Hotel.
WRIB increases its daytime power to the current 1 kilowatt. It was still a daytime-only station at this point.
Faith Christian Center bought WRIB & changed its format and callsign. The station was abruptly taken off air at 12:30 on July 7, angering many of WRIB's former time brokers. Some shows continue on other stations (e.g.: the Armenian Radio Hour is now on WARA) but others disappeared.
