WRSV is a Mainstream Urban formatted broadcast radio station licensed to Elm City, North Carolina. WRSV broadcasts under the branding "Choice FM" and carries the nationally syndicated Breakfast Show in the mornings.
The Wynne family started WEED radio in 1933, later adding an FM station. In 1974 WEED-FM became WRSV-FM, one of the first stations in North Carolina geared toward African-Americans. Bill Wynne took over the stations from his father, selling to Northstar Broadcasting and retiring in 1989. Wynne would not let songs containing sirens air on his stations, since that would distract drivers.
The original call sign for the Chicago area station WTMX was WRSV (for Radio Skokie Valley).
On September 2, 2015, after completing its transmitter move to west of Rocky Mount and shifting markets from Rocky Mount/Greenville to Raleigh-Durham, WRSV rebranded its station from Soul 92 Jams to Choice FM 92.10, and positioned themselves as "The People's Station" while maintaining its urban format. Another change was replacing the Rickey Smiley morning show with The Breakfast Club syndicated by Premiere Radio Networks. Rickey Smiley would later replace the Russ Parr Morning Show on WQOK "K97.5."
