Viorel Morariu (18 October 1931 – 23 May 2017) was a former Romanian rugby union flanker. He is seen as the most influential Romanian rugby player of his generation.
Morariu was a consistent member of the Romanian national team throughout the 1950s and 1960s and was a former captain of the team. His son Octavian Morariu became president of the Romanian Rugby Federation (F.R.R).
In 2012 he received Vernon Pugh Award for Distinguished Service.
Viorel Morariu died on 23 May 2017.
