Villarsel-sur-Marly is a municipality in the district of Sarine in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland.
Villarsel-sur-Marly is first mentioned in 1278 as Villarser.
Villarsel-sur-Marly has an area, as of 2009[update], of 1.4 square kilometers (0.54 sq mi). Of this area, 1.07 km2 (0.41 sq mi) or 75.9% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.26 km2 (0.10 sq mi) or 18.4% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.06 km2 (15 acres) or 4.3% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.04 km2 (9.9 acres) or 2.8% is either rivers or lakes.
Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 2.8% and transportation infrastructure made up 1.4%. Out of the forested land, all of the forested land area is covered with heavy forests. Of the agricultural land, 39.7% is used for growing crops and 35.5% is pastures. All the water in the municipality is flowing water.
The municipality is located in the Sarine district, on the left bank of the Gérine.

Villarsel-sur-Marly has a population (as of December 2015[update]) of 86. As of 2008[update], 13.5% of the population are resident foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years (2000–2010) the population has changed at a rate of 24.6%. Migration accounted for 7.2%, while births and deaths accounted for 10.1%.
Most of the population (as of 2000[update]) speaks French (66 or 89.2%) as their first language, German is the second most common (5 or 6.8%) and Italian is the third (3 or 4.1%).
