Venchi is an Italian gourmet chocolate manufacturer founded by chocolatier Silvano Venchi. After its establishment in Turin in early 1878, the company gained popularity throughout Italy with its Nougatine, small candies made of crushed and caramelized hazelnuts coated in dark chocolate. The company's manufacturing follows typically regional recipes.
For the production of the various chocolates, Venchi uses cocoa originating from plantations in Central/South America and Africa, distilled rum from the Caribbean, as well as natural vanilla. The Piedmontese hazelnuts are claimed to prevent the chocolate from tasting acidic.
In 2006 they started to make ice cream, sold by their shops all over the world. Their own network of 75 shops is based in Italy, United Kingdom, Romania, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, USA, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Brazil, Turkey.
In October 2004, Venchi's Chocaviar was awarded the Vassoio d'Oro Award at the EuroChocolate festival in Perugia.
