Venango Township is a township in Erie County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,297 at the 2010 census.
The township is on the eastern edge of Erie County, bordered to the east by Chautauqua County, New York. The borough of Wattsburg is along the southern edge of the township.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 43.8 square miles (113.4 km2), of which 43.4 square miles (112.5 km2) is land and 0.39 square miles (1.0 km2), or 0.86%, water. The West Branch of French Creek flows from north to south across the center of the township, joining the main stem, which crosses the southeast corner of the township, at Wattsburg.
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,277 people, 771 households, and 637 families residing in the township. The population density was 52.3 people per square mile (20.2/km²). There were 821 housing units at an average density of 18.8/sq mi (7.3/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 98.99% White, 0.09% African American, 0.09% Native American, 0.44% Asian, and 0.40% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.22% of the population.
There were 771 households, out of which 43.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 72.2% were married couples living together, 5.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 17.3% were non-families. 14.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 5.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.95 and the average family size was 3.26.
