Varun Unni is an Indian film composer and singer. He made his debut as a music director for the Malayalam film Annum Innum Ennum directed by Rajesh Nair.
Varun Unni was born on the 15th of July, 1989 in Kochi, Kerala. He did his schooling at Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Vuduthala in Kochi and went on to graduate from engineering at Adi Shankara College of Engineering, Kalady. Although devoid of any background in films, Varun's first priority was always music. Varun was trained from Kalabhavan and had worked with bands like Highway Haze and Flying Squad during his younger years.Varun lists Bob Marley and Eric Clapton among his greatest inspirations.
Though his debut film bombed at the box office, Varun's debut work "Ayyo" from Annum Innum Ennum was noticed.
Varun Unni composed three songs for the Rajesh Nair movie - Escape from Uganda
Varun also composed the music for the Ugandan remake of the movie (also titled Escape from Uganda), featuring songs by chameleone.
In 2013, Varun produced a social cause album titled "Smile" featuring 5 singles by Shwetha Mohan as well as songs by upcoming singers Suchith Suresan and Yasin Nizar. It was released by the indie music label Tune4 Music.
Varun's upcoming projects include, 'A for Apple, B for Btech',RIP Return If Possible and Mathai Kanda Malakha.
