Valérie Plante (born in 1974) is a city councillor in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and the leader of the official opposition, Projet Montréal, since December 2016.

In the Montreal municipal election, 2013, Valérie Plante is elected councillor for Sainte-Marie, defeating former provincial minister and 2009 Montreal candidate for mayor Louise Harel. She is named opposition critic for downtown, tourism, and for women's affairs. She is also named vice president of city council, as well as substitute mayor for the Ville-Marie borough.

In the fall of 2016, Valérie Plante announces her run for the leadership of Projet Montréal. She goes on to win the leadership election with 51.9%, against remaining candidate Guillaume Lavoie. She will thus be Projet's candidate for mayor against incumbent Denis Coderre in the Montreal municipal election, 2017.
