Urban John Vehr (May 30, 1891 – September 19, 1973) was an American clergyman of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Bishop of Denver from 1931 (raised to Archbishop in 1941 when the diocese became an archdiocese) until 1967.
The oldest of six children, Urban Vehr was born in the Price Hill section of Cincinnati, Ohio, to Anthony and Catharine (née Hamann) Vehr. His father was a mechanical engineer. After graduating from St. Xavier College, he studied theology at Mount St. Mary's Seminary of the West. He was ordained to the priesthood by Archbishop Henry K. Moeller on May 29, 1915. He then served as a curate at Holy Trinity Church in Middletown until 1923, when he became chaplain at the College of Mount St. Joseph.
In 1924 he earned a Master of Arts degree in education from the Catholic University of America, and was then named superintendent of Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. He served as rector of St. Gregory Minor Seminary from 1927 to 1930, and was raised to the rank of Monsignor in 1927. He earned a Licentiate of Canon Law from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) at Rome in 1928. From 1930 to 1931, he served as rector of Mount St. Mary's Seminary.
