United Blood Nation, also known as the East Coast Bloods or Bloods, is a gang, active in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic United States, primarily in the New York metropolitan area.
United Blood Nation was founded in 1993 at Rikers Island, New York City by Omar "Original Gangster (OG) Mack" Portee and Leonard "Dead Eye" McKenzie. Portee and McKenzie intended the gang to protect African American inmates from members of the Ñeta and Latin King gangs. As members were released, the gang began to spread, taking over area crack cocaine markets.
The gang soon formed multiple sets, including The Nine Trey Gangsters, One Eight Trey, Mad Stone Villains, Valentine Bloods, Gangster Killer Bloods, Hit Squad Brims, Blood Stone Villains and Sex Money Murder.
Members often display a five-pointed star, bulldog, bull, dog paw (often as a triangle of three ciggarette burns), and/or the abbreviations B (for "Blood") or CK ("Crip Killer"). Members often wear the color red, though black, green and brown are also worn, along with Chicago Bulls and Boston Red Sox clothing.
Additionally, some members may show affiliation with the People Nation through various clothing details.
Hand signs are also used, with a thumb-forefinger ring and remaining fingers spread representing either 0-3 or a lowercase "b".
