Tog Wajaale (also known as Wajaale) is a city on the border of Ethiopia and Somalia. On the Somali side, it is situated in Somaliland, a self-declared republic that is internationally recognized as an autonomous region of Somalia. It is the second largest city in Gabiley District after the capital Gabiley.
Wajaale is considered one of the most important cities in Somaliland and is the main-business city for both Somaliland & Somali region of Ethiopia. It is considered a land-port with over hundred banks. It’s an investment city which promotes Somaliland economy and controls up to 40% of Somaliland GDP along with Berbera just controlling Somaliland GDP by 60%.
The city of Wajaale has a total population of around 70,450 inhabitants and is inhabited by people from the Somali ethnic group. The city is primarily inhabited by the Habar Awal subclan of Isaaq.
