Tirumanancheri Udhvaganathar Temple


Tirumanancheri Udhvaganathar Temple (திருமணஞ்சேரி உத்வாகநாதர் கோயில்) is a Hindu temple located at Tirumananjeri in Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu, India. The presiding deity is Shiva. He is called as Udhvaganathar. His consort is known as Gokhila. Sri Kalyanasundareswarar swamy Temple is another name for this temple.

It is one of the shrines of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams - Shiva Sthalams glorified in the early medieval Tevaram poems by Tamil Saivite Nayanars Tirugnanasambandar and Tirunavukkarasar.

Tirugnanasambandar describes the feature of the deity as:

உடையானை யூழிதோ றூழி யுளதாய
படையானைப் பண்ணிசை பாடு மணஞ்சேரி
இழியாமை யேத்தவல் லார்க்யெய்து மின்பமே.

Tirunavukkarasar describes the feature of the deity as:

ஊர்ப ரந்த உரகம் அணிபவர்
சீர்ப ரந்த திருமணஞ் சேரியார்
ஏர்ப ரந்தங் கிலங்குசூ லத்தாரே.
