Tim Fry


Tim Fry (25 August 1935 – 17 May 2004), designed the Hillman Imp, in conjunction with Mike Parkes, in his twenties whilst working for the Coventry-based Rootes Group. He then became chief engineer at Chrysler Rootes. He left Rootes and set up the industrial design consultancy Smallfry in 1971. Fry died in 2004 and now Smallfry is owned and led by Steve May-Russell. As well as being CEO of Smallfry, May-Russell is the Chairman of The British Industrial Design Association.

Fry died of cancer on 17 May 2004 in Rugby, Warwickshire. He was survived by his wife Karin and his two daughters.
