Thudiyalur is a part of Coimbatore city. It is about 10 km from the city center in a north direction within Coimbatore Corporation. It has the Regional Transport Office of Coimbatore North(TN-38). It is located 12 kilometers from Coimbatore Junction. Thudiyalur lies on the main road to Metttupalayam, Ooty. Thudiyalur is located on the streach of Mettupalayam road, one of the arterial roads of Coimbatore.
Arulmiku Virundheeshwarar Kovil ( A historical temple constructed dated back to 600 years) Shiva saint Sundarar came to Virundeeswarar temple after worshipping Lord Avinashilingeswarar and Mother Karunambikai in Avinashi temple, in a fainting state due to acute hunger. A couple treated them with all love with drumstick leaves preparations. Sundarar regained strength and came to know that the hosts were none other than Lord Shiva and Mother Parvathi. As of 2011[update] India census, Thudiyalur had a population of 33,924.
Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Thudiyalur has an average literacy rate of 75%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 82%, and female literacy is 69%. In Thudiyalur, 10% of the population is under 6 years of age. It is now a part of Coimbatore Corporation. Recently Corporation elections were held to elect member and Mayor directly.
Though Thudiyalur have many roads linking to various part of the City,Thudiyalur to Saravanampatti Road connects the IT Corridor in Saravanampatti which is 8 KM.

Recently Thudiyalur railway station building was refurbished and the station started functioning from July 3rd 2017 onwards. Thudiyalur railway station halt station on the Coimbatore - Mettupalayam section. out of 4 pairs of passenger trains operating between Coimbatore and mettupalayam, only 2 pairs of trains halt.
Halt Timings 8:43 AM towards Coimbatore 9:40 AM towards Mettupalayam 4:50 PM towards Coimbatore 6:07 PM towards Mettupalayam.
As of now, these trains are provided a temporary halt for 6 months, on reviewing the patronage of the passengers, this will be changed to a permanent one. The local body insist people to travel by train, so that the other 2 pairs of trains also halt at thudiyalur.
