"This Is The Hook" is a song by American-Canadian electro house duo BSOD. It was released by Play Digital on 25 October 2006, with a succeeding vinyl release on WeWillDoo. The song featured on deadmau5's 2008 compilation album, At Play, and its B-side featured on At Play Vol. 2. The song topped the Beatport Top 100 in 2006.
The duo wrote the song in a joking manner, considering it a "hilarious parody of the formulaic extreme of dance music". The vocals were provided by a text to speech voice generator (which would later be used in deadmau5 songs "Sometimes Things Get, Whatever" and "Sleepless") explaining what is happening throughout the song.
"This Is The Hook" is an electro house song with a tempo of 127 beats per minute and is written in the key of G minor.
