The Chronicles of Israfel is a Canadian progressive, experimental metal band from Montreal, and the title of a musical narrative written by Dominic Cifarelli, the former guitar player for Pulse Ultra.
During his time with the band Pulse Ultra. Cifarelli began to create a fictional story after viewing violent Japanese anime movies.
Cifarelli enlisted the help of several musicians, ans three years later, in 2007, an album based on the first part of the story was completed. Titled "Starborn, Tome I", it follows Israfel, the main character, in his search for a new home and the self-discovery of his inner design. It was released through Bridge of Hands Entertainment.
In 2008 Cifarelli became bass player for Scars on Broadway, and the project became inactive for a time. In March 2014, the first single, "Life I Know" was released with the second planned album, "A Trillion Lights". The next album was released in October 2016, nine years after the debut album, to mixed reviews.
