It is ranked among top-10 product suppliers in the global optical aggregation segment and is #1 in India. Tejas Networks became a Publicly listed company in June, 2017. It has filed over 333 patents, which includes 203 filings in India, 89 filings in the United States of America, 6 filings in Europe and 35 patents under the Patent Cooperation Treaty. Out of which, 56 patents have been granted to the company.
Tejas Networks was founded in 2000 by three Indian engineers, Sanjay Nayak, Dr. Kumar N Sivarajan, and Arnob Roy. Gururaj Deshpande, an Indo-American venture capitalist, entrepreneur, and the founder of Sycamore Networks, the Deshpande Center for Technological Innovation at MIT and the Deshpande Foundation, was the first investor in Tejas Networks. At inception, the company received investments worth ₹21 crores (US$3.27 million) from Deshpande, Sycamore, and ASG Omni.
