Sussex is a village in Waukesha County, Wisconsin, United States. It is approximately 19 miles (31 km) northwest of Milwaukee and 9 miles (14 km) north of Waukesha. The village is 7.24 square miles (19 km2) at an elevation of 930 feet. The population was 10,518 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area.

It was founded in 1843 by George Elliott, a bricklayer from Beckley, East Sussex, and Richard Cooling, a blacksmith from Dorset.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 7.62 square miles (19.74 km2), of which, 7.57 square miles (19.61 km2) of it is land and 0.05 square miles (0.13 km2) is water.

As of the census of 2010, there were 10,518 people, 4,039 households, and 2,932 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,389.4 inhabitants per square mile (536.5/km2). There were 4,186 housing units at an average density of 553.0 per square mile (213.5/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 95.2% White, 0.8% African American, 0.3% Native American, 2.1% Asian, 0.5% from other races, and 1.1% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.4% of the population.

There were 4,039 households of which 39.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.1% were married couples living together, 9.0% had a female householder with no husband present, 3.4% had a male householder with no wife present, and 27.4% were non-families. 22.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.60 and the average family size was 3.09.
