Suining County (simplified Chinese: 睢宁县; traditional Chinese: 睢寧縣; pinyin: Suiníng Xiàn; Wade–Giles: Sui-ning) is under the administration of Xuzhou, Jiangsu province, China; it borders the prefecture-level cities of Suqian to the east and Suzhou (Anhui) to the south and west. Suining is well known for its Child art.

In the very early era, the southern and northern of Suining belonged to two small states called Puru and Pi respectively. It was a part of Qulü (取虑) County during the Qin dynasty. Then Cao Wei removed the seat to Suining nowadays subsequent to this area administrated by Suiling (睢陵) County since the Western Han. Its name had been changed for several times as Qulü, Jinling (晋陵, not 金陵) and Tongcheng (潼城). The county was once cancelled since the Sui dynasty ,and became a part of Suqian County at that time since the Tang dynasty.

Suining County was established in 1218, during the Jin dynasty, and its name, 睢寧 's literal meaning is "let the Sui River to be calm". The county was cancelled again in the early Yuan dynasty, but restored in 1275. Then it belonged to Pizhou which administrated by Huai'an until 1733, being transferred to Xuzhou Prefecture.
