The State Council Information Office (SCIO; Chinese: ; pinyin: Guówùyuàn Xīnwén Bàngōngshì; literally: "State Council News Office") is an administrative office under the State Council, the chief administrative body of the People's Republic of China. It is the chief information office of the Chinese government.

The Internet Affairs Bureau deals with Internet censorship in the People's Republic of China and represses "disruptive" (anti-Chinese government) activity on the web in mainland China.

In May, 2011 the State Council Information Office announced transfer of its offices which regulated the internet to a new subordinate agency, the State Internet Information Office which would be responsible for regulating the internet in the People's Republic of China. The relationship of the new agency to other agencies in the PRC which regulate the internet was unclear from the announcement.
