Staphylococcus schleiferi is a coccus bacterium of the genus Staphylococcus. It is susceptible to novobiocin and produces a heat-stable nuclease and a fibrinogen affinity factor.S. schleiferi differs from S. aureus by the production of a different heat-stable nuclease among other characteristics. The type strain is N850274 (= ATCC 43808). It can be pathogenic.
