Stambaugh Township is a civil township of Iron County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,248 at the 2000 census.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 190.1 square miles (492 km2). Land accounts for 181.8 square miles (471 km2) and water for 8.3 square miles (21 km2).

As of the census of 2000, there were 1,248 people, 523 households, and 384 families residing in the township. The population density was 6.9 per square mile (2.7/km²). There were 1,312 housing units at an average density of 7.2 per square mile (2.8/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 97.36% White, 0.72% African American, 0.96% Native American, 0.08% from other races, and 0.88% from two or more races.
